Listen360 accounts often contain multiple locations organized in a hierarchy. Survey templates can be shared across those locations to maintain consistent survey programs.
Understanding how templates interact with the account hierarchy helps prevent unexpected survey behavior.
How Templates Are Shared
Survey templates are typically created at the parent account level.
When a template is used at the parent level:
- The template becomes available to all child locations.
- Survey responses roll up through the hierarchy for reporting.
This structure ensures that organizations with multiple locations collect feedback using the same survey design.
How Template Changes Affect Locations
When an administrator updates a template:
- The changes apply to every location using that template.
- Future surveys use the updated configuration.
Because templates are shared objects, edits should be reviewed carefully before saving.
Create Location-Specific Templates
If a single location requires a different survey configuration, administrators can create a separate template.
To do this:
- Navigate to Account>Templates
- Select the existing template
- In the top-right, click the gear icon
- Choose Duplicate template
- Rename the duplicated template
- Update the questions or settings as needed
The new template can then be assigned to the specific location or program.
Use Template Variables for Location Messaging
Templates may include dynamic variables that automatically insert location-specific information. You can find these in the Emails section at the bottom of the survey template configuration page.
Examples include:
- Location name
- Company name
- Program or division name
These variables allow one template to display customized messaging without requiring multiple templates.
